This must have been done before in the immensly huge world of webcomics: Taking an external comic and talking about it, or reenacting it. We are huge C&H fans and deeply regret its termination. But Bill Watterson probably did the right thing in ending the series before it got stale (which we couldn't imagine of really happening). The reenacted strip in question appeared in the Calvin and Hobbes collection 'Attack of the Deranged Mutant Killer Monster Snow Goons' and can be found on page 27 (in the edition I own, other editions my vary). I'm afraid I can't tell you the exact date the strip appeared in US newspapers, but it was probably in the very early nineties. It's possibly my favorite C&H strip of all times, having made me laugh out loud at the top of my lungs for several minutes. Calvin and Hobbes fans will understand the reference in the title. And those who don't, should become Calvin and Hobbes fans immediately!
